Marvin King-Davis had 20 points, Kory Holden added 19 and Delaware rallied from a late 12-point deficit to beat Marist 70-69 on Saturday night.

Holden had 16 points in the second half for the Blue Hens (5-3) and 10 in the final 5:05 to spark their 17-4 rally to close the game.

Marist (2-6) led 65-53 with 5:33 left and netted its last field goal on Khallid Hart’s 3-pointer that made it 68-60 with 4:12.

Holden scored the next seven points and Anthony Mosley made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it at 68 with 55 seconds left. Hart made 1 of 2 at the foul line to put Marist briefly back in front before Cazmon Hayes scored the go-ahead layup with 27 seconds to go.

Anthony Mosley added 13 points and Hayes 12 for Delaware.

Hart had a season-high 31 points to lead the Red Foxes.

Michigan 80, Delaware State 33: The Hornets narrowly avoided a record-low scoring performance in a loss to Michigan in a nationally televised contest (ESPNU) at the Crisler Center this afternoon.

Mrdjan Gasevic hit a jump hook in the lane in the closing moments to help the Hornets avoid a record-low single-game point total, currently 32 in a MEAC Tournament loss to Hampton in 2009 (51-32).

Caris LeVert led six Michigan players in double figures with 15 points, highlighted by three three-point field goals (three-for-five). He also led all players with five assists. Zak Irvin had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Duncan Robinson and Muhammad-Ali Abdur Rahkman added 11 points each for the Wolverines.

Kavon Waller and DeAndre Haywood led Delaware State with six points each, while Devin Morgan and Artem Tavakalyan each scored five.

DSU freshman center Demola Onifade topped all players with a career-high nine rebounds and tied his career-best with three blocks.

Michigan led 38-18 at the break and outscored the Hornets 42-15 in the second half.

The Wolverines scored the first five points of the game, and opened up a 19-5 lead on a dunk by Robinson off a feed from Kameron Chatman with 11:28 left in the first half.

The Hornets trailed 27-11 before showing a little spark. Tavakalyan capped off a 7-2 DSU run with a three-pointer to cut Michigan’s lead to 29-18 at the 4:07 mark of the first half.

That would be the Hornets’ final score of the half, as the Wolverines tallied the last nine points to lead by 20 at intermission.

Michigan scored the first 10 points of the second half, and opened up a 48-18 lead on a three-pointer by LeVert with 16:03 left to play.

The Hornets had just three second half points before Haywood hit two free throws with 6:52 remaining in the game.

Michigan won the rebound battle 41-29. The Hornets have been outrebounded in each game this season.

DSU was also plagued by 17 turnovers. Michigan had 23 assists and just seven turnovers in the game.

St. Georges 65, Dover 63: Kyson Rawls hit a layup in the final seconds to deal Dover a tough loss on Saturday,

Jordan Allen paced the Senators with 20 points. Dover dropped to 2-2 on the year.

College soccer

UD’s Delgado named All-American: Blue Hens junior Guillermo Delgado (Tres Cantos, Spain/Jose Luis Sampedro) has accomplished during his time in a Delaware uniform and he can now add three-time All-American to his list of accolades as the NSCAA released its national awards.

A Second Team honoree in 2013 and Third Team selection in 2014, Delgado earned Third Team praises once again this season.

“Being a three-time All-American puts Guillermo in a special category,” Delaware head coach Ian Hennessy commented. “Our program began in 1926 and he is our first triple All-American. This is an amazing feat and achievement that puts Guillermo in the UD pantheon of fame with the greatest of all of our athletes across any sport.”

Earlier this week, Delgado picked up NSCAA All-Midwest Region First Team honors for third time in his career.

The forward completed his junior campaign with a team-best 24 points and 10 goals. Delgado led the Colonial Athletic Association with 1.20 points per game, 0.50 goals per contest and four game-winning goals. He is currently second in program history with 85 career points (37g, 11a) while his 37 goals are also good for second all-time.
