Shopping the spring senior scene at Thrive Salisbury

The warmth of spring and a bustle of activity were perfect for Friday’s return of Thrive Salisbury – Senior Life After 55. The 2023 lifestyle event brought exhibitors, food, live music and a champagne toast, presented by Salisbury Independent/ BayToBayNews.com in partnership with Lakeside at Mallard Landing.

Active seniors are invited to explore, learn and enjoy the day at this free event. One couple came from Sussex County, as they’re considering a move to Salisbury to be closer to family. “As a senior, this was a good way to explore the senior scene!” said Jean Davis.

Some exhibitors help with tasks, like beauty, library, moving or downsizing the home. Others provide services, like health care or legal. Many emphasized the importance of planning early, so decision-making can be less stressful during an emergency — for you and your family.

“We think it’s so important for our readers to be able to meet face-to-face with these businesses and community organizations in a relaxed atmosphere to get the information that they are looking for,” said Heather Cregar, Salisbury Independent’s Director of Marketing and Promotions.

Entertainment included live music by Bob Mulkey, karaoke and afternoon bingo. Guests enjoyed door prize gift baskets from vendors, plus complimentary refreshments all day, thanks to generous sponsors.

As a special treat, there was a champagne toast to honor the 25th anniversary of Lakeside at Mallard Landing, including an official commendation from state Sen. Mary Beth Carozza.

Event sponsors who make this day possible include Chesapeake Health Care and the Law Office of Mariann Batie.
