MammogramNow cuts ribbon at Milford Walmart

Posted

MILFORD — MammogramNow has opened its doors to potentially lifesaving services and celebrated with a ribbon cutting Saturday.

The location can be found inside the Walmart store on North Dupont Boulevard. And several dignitaries, like Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, state Sen. Dave Wilson, Mayor Archie Campbell and state Rep. Bryan Shupe, were in attendance to welcome the facility.

Four-time WNBA champ and three-time league MVP Sheryl Swoopes also came by, as a spokesperson for RadNet, the creators of MammogramNow.

She told her story about battling cancer with family members.

“My mom had 13 brothers and sisters, and eight of them died from some form of cancer,” said Ms. Swoopes. “Growing up, my mom and her siblings practically lived in Walmart, and who knows what would’ve happened if something like MammogramNow had been available while they were still alive?”

It is her hope, she said, for more MammogramNow locations at Walmarts throughout the country, providing convenient opportunities for breast cancer screenings.
