SALISBURY -- Liliia Khmarskaia, a Chemistry and Physics Teacher at James M. Bennett High School, has been named a recipient of the National Science Teachers Association's Maitland. P Simmons Memorial Award for New Teachers.

The award stands as a prestigious honor within the science education community, in the memory of Maitland. P Simmons, a distinguished leader in science education. This award is dedicated to new science teachers who demonstrate exceptional promise and commitment in the field of science education. The award celebrates  Khmarskaia's accomplishments in fostering a love for science and learning in her students.

In addition to a $1,000 cash prize,  Khmarskaia is invited to the National Science Teachers Association's conference later this year in Denver, Colorado.
