MILFORD — A Delaware State Police trooper suffered a minor injury while taking a 27-year-old Dover man into custody Sunday, spokesman Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell said.
The trooper was injured during a confrontation with Dashawn Toles at approximately 12:20 a.m., he said. DSP was responding to a reported physical domestic incident.
Police alleged that Mr. Toles struck a 35-year-old female in the face before exiting a vehicle. Cpl. Hatchell said he was located by police while walking in the 1700 block of Bay Road. He became disorderly with troopers, damaging a patrol vehicle before being taken into custody, he added. A trooper was injured during the scuffle.
Mr. Toles was charged with second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with force, offensive touching, criminal mischief and public intoxication. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7, Dover, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $7,001 secured bond.
