DOVER -- Contrary to reports circulating online, the official promoter of the Firefly Music Festival said the organization has not made a determination on the  event's fate.

"We haven't made any announcements about it," said Dennis Dennehy, chief communications officer of Los Angeles-based AEG Presents, majority owner of Firefly.

Following Firefly in 2022 at the Woodlands of Dover, last year's event was cancelled, like many other music festivals that year, with social media posts promoting the 2024 event.

Currently, the Firefly website reads, "After 10 magical years of Firefly in The Woodlands, we've decided to take a year off to recharge our lights. We will see you in 2024!"

However, since the beginning of 2024, Mr. Dennehy has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of  a new iteration of the decade-old festival.

Mr. Dennehy did confirm last week there was "no news past Phish," referring to the recently-announced Mondegreen festival, scheduled for Aug. 15-18 at The Woodlands. Previous Firefly festivals have been held before and after August, resulting in fan speculation about possible dates, and seemingly eliminating a summer Firefly  announcement.
