Delmarva Christian freshman class attends retreat

GEORGETOWN — The nondenominational Delmarva Christian School traveled to Black Rock Retreat on Sept. 8-10 with more than 50 freshmen on a mission to experience Christ.

The freshman retreat is an annual trip to Quarryville, Pennsylvania, that provides students the time to become acquainted with their classmates and learn more about what it means to be a Delmarva Christian Royal. While at Black Rock, students worked together in team-building activities, praise and worship and participated in devotion and cabin reflection sessions with Pastor Drew Freyder from LiFT Church in Salisbury, Maryland.

“Delmarva Christian always does a great job planning and executing this trip, and I enjoy my time getting to know the students. Kids these days are navigating through difficult times, and the unity and time they get on a trip like the Black Rock Retreat is so healthy,” said Pastor Freyder. “I was impressed by the adjustments made last year at Camp Arrowhead, but the three-day experience at Black Rock creates a whole different environment.”

Travel restrictions prevented Delmarva Christian from making it to Pennsylvania last year, but Camp Arrowhead in Lewes provided the perfect solution to allow the tradition to continue.

“This retreat is an incredible cellphone-free experience that students will always remember. They grow closer to each other, create memories, learn about the skills God has placed in their lives and truly experience Christ,” said DCS Head of School Matt Kwiatkowski.

Delmarva Christian Schools provide Christian education to students in grades nine through 12 at the high school in Georgetown and from young toddlers through grade eight in Milton.
