Activities slated for National Small Business Week and Month in Delaware

DOVER — The Delaware Division of Small Business is highlighting activities taking place during National Small Business Month in May and for National Small Business Week, April 28 through May 4.

In Delaware, small businesses account for approximately 98% of all industry. The division has created a landing page on its website with resources for small-business owners, de.gov/smallbizmonth. Resources include a social media toolkit, flyers and logos in English and Spanish, with more materials in Spanish to be added soon.

Activities planned for Small Business Week and Month are as follows:

  • The Division of Small Business and SizeUp are holding a free virtual webinar on how to use their free analytics and marketing tool, SizeUp Delaware, on Monday from 1-2 p.m. Register at us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_I8jGAiYfQa-QN9YMzulTsA#/registration.
  • The division and the Small Business Development Center are co-hosting a webinar for small-business owners about the State Small Business Credit Initiative on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Register at delawaresbdc.org.
  • Another resource is the U.S. Small Business Administration and SCORE’s virtual summit Tuesday and Wednesday. The event is free, but registration is required at the Summit website.
  • The division will host a social media webinar for small-business owners May 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., titled “Social Media for Solopreneurs.” To register, visit de.gov/smallbizmonth.
  • There will be two activities related to the division’s EDGE grant competition. The pitch competition will be Wednesday and Thursday at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center in Georgetown, and the awards ceremony will be later in the month.
  • The division will be rolling out a series of social media posts and videos called “Get to Know DSB.” The goal is to increase awareness of the free services the agency provides year-round, and available funding and program opportunities.
