Deadly shooting in Laurel under investigation

Posted

LAUREL — A 26-year-old Laurel woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being found inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds Sunday, Delaware State Police said.

Authorities said that at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to a reported shooting on West Sixth Street within the town limits of Laurel. When officers arrived, they found the woman. Her name was being withheld Monday until her family was notified.

A 41-year-old Millsboro man had also been shot. He was transported to a nearby hospital for life-threatening injuries.

Laurel Police requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to take over the investigation due to its nature. According to a preliminary investigation, an unidentified suspect or suspects fired multiple shots into a vehicle occupied by the two victims and a third person while at the entrance to Little Creek Apartments.

The victims then drove to West Sixth Street, authorities said, where they were contacted by the Laurel Police Department and received medical attention.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Detective A. Bluto by calling 302-741-2859. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
