Woman dies from crash injuries suffered in Magnolia

MAGNOLIA — A 46-year-old Magnolia died Sunday from injuries suffered the previous day in a vehicle crash, Delaware State Police.

Police said Dianell Gordy-Thomas  was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV Saturday when it left Clapham Road for unknown reasons at approximately 11:58 p.m. and traveled into a retention pond. Police said the vehicle became submerged with the driver inside. The incident occurred near the entrance to Barker’s Landing, authorities said.

According to police, rescue crews were able the remove the driver from the SUV and begin lifesaving efforts.

Ms. Gordy-Thomas was taken to an area hospital where she died.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
