I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. William Faust’s comments about Dover (“Downtown Dover Partnership is out of touch"). My family moved to the city in 1971, when my dad was stationed at Dover Air Force Base. I left the area after high school. I moved back after I retired eight years ago. I volunteered with the Downtown Dover Partnership for a couple of years and quickly became discouraged with that organization, the mayor and City Council.
Not only does the partnership need to take off the rose-colored glasses, but it should be ashamed about the lack of progress it has made in the past eight years.
While I was volunteering, I began to get the distinct impression that the group is not receptive to change or outsiders with different experiences and ideas.
With so many people migrating to Delaware in retirement, perhaps it’s time to consider ways to invite a new pool of people, who are willing to bring fresh ideas to the table. It certainly could not hurt.
Thank you.
