The Wicomico County Republican Club is honored to award $1000 scholarships to Kayleigh Krater and Caitlyn Grager. The recipients excelled in academics, extra-curricular activities, and community service.
Kayleigh Krater will be graduating from Mardela Middle and High School with a 3.96 nonweighted GPA. While completing a rigorous high school academic schedule, she also earned 33 college credits in the last 2 years. She has a been an active member of the Student Government Association, historian of the National Honor Society, and president of the Spanish Honor Society. Kayleigh has received the Scholar Athlete Award, participating in varsity indoor track and field, soccer, and volleyball. She has volunteered as a teaching assistant at Northwestern Elementary School and helped with Santa’s Angels for 13 years. Kayleigh started and organized “Natalie’s Lemonade Stand which raised over $25,000 for a family who lost their daughter in a car accident. Her achievements also include the President’s Award for Academic Achievement and Wicomico County Lamp of Knowledge Award. Kayleigh has excellent work ethics and time management skills as noted by her 30 hours/week work experiences throughout her busy high school academic career. Kayleigh will be attending Salisbury University in the fall and ultimately plans to become a CRNA certified registered nurse anesthetist.
Caitlyn Grager will be graduating from Mardela Middle and High School with a perfect 4.0 nonweighted GPA. Her rigorous academic schedule included several honors courses, AP courses and dual enrollment at Salisbury University. Caitlyn’s extracurricular activities include class officer since her freshman year and active member of the Student Government Association, acting as vice president in her senior year. She also presently serves as president of the National Honor Society. She has been active in competitive cheer leading since age 3, and captian of her high school team the last 2 years. Her achievements also include the President’s Award for Academic Achievement, Wicomico County Lamp of Knowledge Award, and Mardela DAR Student of 2024. She has volunteered for MAC Inc. Senior Center some 300 hours, United Way, and Santa’s Angels. While completing a rigorous and busy high school career and maintaining work experiences all 4 years, Caitlyn has displayed excellent work and leadership qualities. Caitlyn will be attending St. Mary’s College in Maryland this fall with a major in English and minor in Education.
