SALISBURY -- A town hall discussion – What to do with the DAF? – will be held at Wor-Wic Community College, 32000 Campus Drive, Salisbury, on Tuesday, March 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

“DAF” is shorthand for the residual material produced by the dissolved air flotation procedure used by animal processing and rendering plants.

The Wicomico Environmental Trust is hosting this event to provide a neutral forum for community discussion and education on these important but divisive issues.

All of the following organizations have agreed to speak in a moderated community panel discussion at the town hall:

- Delmarva Chicken Association - Holly Porter,

- Friends of the Nanticoke River - Dr. Judith Stribling,

- Lower Shore Land Trust - Jared Parks,

- NAACP Wicomico County Branch - Monica Brooks,

- Nanticoke Watershed Alliance - Lisa Wool,

- Neighborhood Action Group - Lynette Kenney,

- Wicomico Farm Bureau - Geno Lowe or other representative.

In addition, a moderated panel of experts, including professors from UMD College Park and UMES and experts from Bioenergy Devco and the Center for Watershed Protection, will speak on alternative processing and storage technologies such as anaerobic digestion, biochar, and large-scale composting.
