TODDVILLE – Tragedy struck a South Dorchester village late on New Year’s Day, when a fire killed two people.
A report from the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal around 9:30 p.m. said deputy marshals were on the scene of the emergency. Firefighters responded to the 2600 block of Toddville Road just after 8 p.m. for reports of a fully involved house fire with possible entrapment.
The home was a one-story brick structure. In that initial report, authorities could not confirm any deaths.
Then, at 10:35 p.m., Sheriff James W. Phillips Jr. confirmed that there had been two fatalities as a result of the fire. This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
