SEAFORD — TidalHealth Nanticoke has received the American Heart Association’s 2023 Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Award for its commitment to ensuring that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based standards.

The hospital also received the association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll awards. To qualify, hospitals must meet criteria that reduce the time between a patient’s arrival and his or her treatment with the clot-buster alteplase.

Additionally, the Nanticoke team was presented with AHA’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award. This distinction aims to ensure that diabetic patients, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.

Each year, program participants qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organizations have committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, participants also educate patients to manage their health and recovery at home.
