SEAFORD — TidalHealth Nanticoke has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards.

The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care and is valid for 36 months.

The Seaford hospital underwent a rigorous, unannounced on-site review July 12-14. During the visit, a team of commission reviewers evaluated compliance with hospital standards spanning several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management and rights and responsibilities of the individual.

The team at TidalHealth Nanticoke joins their counterpart at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, Salisbury, Maryland, which also earned the seal in 2022.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance.

Additionally, in its recently released 2024 Star Report, Healthgrades presented TidalHealth Nanticoke with its Coronary Interventional Excellence Award, placing that service in the top 10% in the nation. The Seaford hospital also was five-star-rated for the first time in coronary intervention, treatment of heart attack and treatment of respiratory failure.

TidalHealth Nanticoke is the only hospital in the state to achieve the Healthgrades five-star rating for the treatment of heart attack.

The facility was also honored again as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for gastrointestinal surgery. The award keeps TidalHealth Nanticoke among the top 10% in the nation.
