CAMBRIDGE – Dr. Jymil Thompson, formerly an administrator with Dorchester County Public Schools, is returning to the district as assistant superintendent, it was announced last week.

Dr. Thompson most recently divided his time as director of programs for the John and Janice Wyatt Foundation in Easton, and as founding principal of Polaris Village Academy, a tuition-free private school due to open in 2024.

Originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Dr. Thompson came to Dorchester County in 2017, serving as assistant principal and then principal at Mace’s Lane Middle School until 2020. He has almost 20 years of experience in education in roles of increasing responsibility, including as coordinator and then director of special education, having begun his career as a special education teacher.

Dr. Thompson holds degrees from Penn State University and Trinity University, receiving his doctorate in educational leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2022. A resident of Easton, he currently serves as a member of the Talbot County Board of Education.

Dorchester County Board of Education President Dr. Susan Morgan said, “The Board of Education is very pleased to welcome Dr. Thompson to the new position of assistant superintendent. He’ll be working closely with the schools to bring about a more uniform vision.”
