Honoring Women and Their Stories

Breast Cancer Awareness can raise a lot of emotions: the fear of a scary diagnosis or the discomfort of treatments—but also the comfort in community support, or the joy of gathering together.

Not everybody wants to talk about their medical experiences— maybe they’re exhausted, uncomfortable or just prefer to keep their body’s history to themselves. We respect that.

But each year in Think Pink, we’re incredibly grateful to the women who share their stories for this publication. They describe their lives, including with cancer, and offer advice for people who are newly diagnosed. By sharing life experiences, they help make the road easier for everyone.

If you have a friend or neighbor who has dealt with cancer, we also encourage you to read the women’s interviews for perspective, including advice on how to support your loved ones.

In 2023 Think Pink, you’ll also read about a woman who blends medical know-how with beauty to give safe skin treatments for people undergoing cancer treatments.

Of course, there’s also a calendar of events with fundraisers and other support activities happening around the state.

So, as you “ Think Pink” this October, take a moment to honor and appreciate the experiences of Delawareans who tell their tales.
