GEORGETOWN — Sussex County is accepting applications for its Human Service Grant Program for the 2024 fiscal year through Sept. 29.
This initiative provides funding to established countywide nonprofit agencies that enhance health and human services, contributing to a safe, healthy and self-sufficient community.
Grants award such organizations with support of programs or capital purchases.
The county has set aside more than $220,000 for the 2024 effort, according to its finance director, Gina Jennings.
Last year’s average grant — excluding senior centers, which receive a flat amount — was slightly more than $2,000. The range was $500-$3,550.
Nonprofits that have not been performing services in Sussex County for at least two years will not qualify.
To be eligible, an agency representative must fill out an application and submit the required documentation via sussexcountyde.gov/human-service-grant-application.
County Council is expected to consider these requests in October, with awards made the following month.
