GEORGETOWN — Sussex Central High advanced nine wrestlers to the semifinals to hold the early lead after the first day of the Henlopen Conference wrestling tournament.
The Golden Knights, who are hosting the two-day event, have 91 team points to lead second-place Smyrna, which has 82.
Smyrna put eight wrestlers in today’s semifinals while third-place Lake Forest (76.5) has six.
The semifinals are slated to start at 11 a.m. today at Sussex Central with the finals scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Ten of the Henlopen’s 15 squads have at least three wrestlers in the semifinals. Sussex Central won the DIAA Division I state dual-meet state title last weekend.
