Sperry: An open letter to those who voted for Trump

Posted

I fear for my family. They are multinational and biracial, and I have a transgender grandchild. They are terrified that they may no longer have a future. I am appalled that you would vote into office a man who has told us that he wants to be a dictator on day 1, and your main concern was the “economy.” In fact, you have given him what he considers to be an unfettered mandate.

We were warned by many of those who worked under him in his prior administration, including two generals, that he desired to be a fascist ruler, but you were seduced my him, a man who has no respect for our Constitution.

You voted for him in large numbers. It is hard for me to accept what we have become as a nation, when most of the voting population would entrust a liar and a crook to be our president. I cry for my country and who we have become, and I am terrified that President-elect Donald Trump’s policies will be a threat to the family I dearly treasure.
