Speak Up: Weed bill a burning issue, continued

Posted

The House of Representatives was set to vote on a measure last week that would legalize marijuana for adults, seeking to make Delaware the 18th state to allow recreational pot. But a few hours before the chamber went into session, the main sponsor announced there would be no vote that day. “House Bill 150 is an extremely important piece of legislation with many complicated moving parts,” Rep. Ed Osienski, D-Newark, said in a statement. “In recent days, a number of amendments have been filed by myself and other legislators that would make significant changes to the bill as written. Accordingly, my colleagues and I need time to consider the implications of these various amendments before bringing the bill to the House floor for a vote. “This is one piece of legislation that we have to get right, and I encourage my fellow legislators, advocates and supporters of the bill to please be patient as we continue to work toward the goal of legalizing marijuana for adult recreational use in Delaware.”

  • If you can't grow a single plant, it's not legalized. — Steve Durnan
  • An ounce of marijuana in states where it is legal is anywhere from $200-$300 or higher.

Street you get 16 ounces (one pound) for $1,000, which is around $60 an ounce. (That's what I found on the internet with pricing. I could be off.) So, do people think street deals are going to stop, or just fewer people going to jail? — Jeff Grzeszczak

  • When each state figures out how to screw the taxpayer enough, they will approve it. Legal here in Arizona. You can grow six plants indoors per person but no more than 12 plants per household. — Pamela Miller Marek
  • I heard this stuff will cost $17 a gram. Street is cheaper, maybe only as high as $10 a gram. But at least you know what you are getting when you buy from a dispensary. — Rachel Wood
