Speak Up: St. Georges Bridge reopened after 18 months of work

Posted

It’s been a year-and-a-half since the St. Georges Bridge along U.S. 13 has been available to motorists. But an Oct. 11 ribbon cutting reopened the span, with traffic once again traveling the bridge at 2 p.m.

  • You guys did a great job repairing and retrofitting the bridge! — Anthony Lloyd
  • The idea that it has supposedly been all repaired, and cars are still only allowed in the left-most lane, north or south, is a little sketchy to me. — Jackie Johnson
  • Let’s hope they start charging a tax for bicycles to use the roads, as vehicle owners pay to drive on the roads. Just saying! — Bill Reid
  • To God be the glory. I never go over it, but hopefully, it will divert traffic off of Del. 1 because it’s a mess when I go to work in the morning. I’m like, why? — Michelle Carter-Livingston
  • The new surface is rougher than the old pothole-riddled deck! Atrocious. — Scott Clabaugh
  • If you want it to stay open, better keep those tractor-trailers off of it! — Connie Burks
