New Castle County is now a substantial transmission area for COVID-19, according to parameters outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Sussex County is also a substantial transmission area, and Kent County is moderate based on those guidelines.
- Here we go. Carney will backtrack and mandate the masks again soon, right in time for schools to reopen, especially with this new timely variant of the virus that affects the kids. This whole time, they were the least likely to get sick, and now that school is about to reopen, there’s a new strain that targets them. — Mike Needles
- Please explain to me why the mask mandate shouldn’t be reinstated — and never should have been dropped. None of the still-not-fully-FDA-approved vaccines that were to potentially prevent those fully vaccinated from developing severe symptoms prevent anyone partially or fully vaccinated from being infected or reinfected. The numbers in almost all states, if not all states, were lower — until the government decided to open everything up and institute the “honor system” for those who were not fully vaccinated to continue to wear a mask. Unfortunately, those fully vaccinated can and do still become infected and, once infected, continue to spread the virus, and the U.S. has documented for months that there is a large population of individuals who don’t have any common sense or respect for their health or lives let alone anyone else. We will not even go into the fact that none of the vaccines have been fully approved by the FDA or approved for those under 12 years old. The overwhelming number of students in all schools are12 and under and riding on school buses, public transport, etc., to get to enclosed, overcrowded schools with kids, teachers and staff to attend preschool to grade 7 or, if advanced, higher grades. — Victoria M. Dover IRT event brings no-cost care for all, while training military
Not only has the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on employment, it has also pushed back access to medical services, as many have had to sacrifice health care to pay rent or buy groceries. That’s why the weeklong Central Delaware Partnership for Hope’s Innovative Readiness Training mission is such an extraordinary opportunity for Dover-area residents. The mission’s medical-training event provides no-cost medical, dental, optometric, mental health and nutrition services to the public, while simultaneously instructing service members for deployed environments.
- Put the military doctors in the inner city. They’ll see plenty of gunshot wounds and trauma. — Howard Gaines III
