SMYRNA — An 87-year-old Smyrna man suffered a minor laceration on his arm after his vehicle crashed into a Bayhealth building Tuesday, authorities said.

Smyrna Police spokesperson Lt. Brian Donner said the man’s vehicle crashed into the Bayhealth Smyrna Outpatient Center after his foot slipped off the brake and accelerated into the building.

Bayhealth spokesperson Kalee Sexton said the incident at 401 N. Carter Road occurred at around 2 p.m.

Bayhealth said laboratory and EKG services were temporarily interrupted and announced they would be restored at noon Wednesday.

The rest of the building remained fully operational including the Bayhealth Emergency Center.
