CAMBRIDGE - Six residents of Cambridge have submitted the necessary documents to appear on the ballot to fill the unexpired term of Cambridge mayor for a special election to be held Tuesday, Aug. 23, a statement from the city said. The six candidates who will appear on the ballot are: Laurel E. Atkiss, LaShon M. Banks-Foster, Addie C. Eckardt, Robert S. Larimer, Steve W. Rideout and Lee L. Travers III.

The Cambridge Commissioners called for a special election June 27 to fill the unexpired term of Andrew Bradshaw, who resigned in January. The unexpired term of the mayor lasts through 2025.

In-person voting will be held at the Chesapeake College Cambridge Center located at 418 Race St.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters may also request an absentee ballot by visiting the City of Cambridge's website at choosecambridge.com/DocumentCenter/View/2056/2022-SpecialElection---Absentee-Ballot-Request.

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, then the two candidates receiving the most votes will proceed to a run-off election to be held Sept. 20.
