Sipple: Don’t ban phones in schools, just regulate them

Posted

We all know that cellphones are a way of life for all of us. They have become — unfortunately, some say — a way of life for our youth. Society has to accept this and adjust to children having cellphones at school.

While I don’t think banning them in schools is a good idea, I do think we have to have rules to lessen the distraction in classes. I think each class should have a rack positioned in front of the room, so it can easily be monitored. Each student, as he or she comes into class, would put his or her phone in the rack until the class is over, and on the way out, it can be retrieved. They will always have access to their phones, and there will be no distractions for the teachers.
