'Sex Please We’re Sixty' brings comedy to Kent County Theatre Guild

DOVER — In April and May, Kent County Theatre Guild will present the farce “Sex Please We’re Sixty.”

Notable for its “non-traditional” cast, this contemporary tale by Michael and Susan Parker is focused on the exploits of six sexagenarians — a person whose age is in the 60s.

In the show, Mrs. Stancliffe’s Rose Cottage Bed & Breakfast is very popular with female guests, who are believed by her elderly neighbor, “Bud the Stud,” to visit for his romantic liaisons. Despite her reservations, Mrs. Stancliffe accepts that Bud is good for business. But when a retired chemist develops a blue pill to increase the libido of menopausal women, a minor mix-up leads to massive problems.

This ensemble cast includes talented local thespians Chris Polo (Mrs. Stancliffe), Tony Gerdes (Bud Davis), Ray Crew (Henry Mitchell), Jill Lewandowski (Victoria Ambrose), Sue Gerdes (Hilary Hudson), and Patti Gatto (Charmaine Beauregard).

Director Terri Thompson is joined by Karen Marshall (assistant director), Becky Craft (stage manager), Roxanne Dunlop (stage crew), John Moller and Jesse Gerdes (lights and sound), Paul Janiga (set design) and Bill Hartung and Patrice Hartung (set construction).

“Sex Please We’re Sixty” opens April 21 and runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. April 21, 22, 28 and 29, and May 5 and 6. An additional matinee show will take place April 30 at 2 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at tix.kctg.org/2023 or at the door.

General admission is $20 and discounts are available for military, seniors, students and guild members. The Patchwork Playhouse is at 140 E. Roosevelt Ave. in Dover.
