DOVER — A sewer line near the Carroll’s Plaza complex broke Tuesday morning.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control was notified, and water was being diverted to minimize the overflow where possible.
While repairs were underway, the Kent County Public Works Department asked city of Dover water customers to conserve their water.
“Crews will be working round-the-clock to get repairs completed,” said Diana Golt, the department’s director. “This is not a simple fix and may not be resolved until (Wednesday) morning.”
When the line is fixed, the next step will be to clean up and sample downstream waterways to measure bacteria levels.
The county will provide updates as information becomes available.
