Services planned Nov. 29 for Salisbury philanthropist Judy Jackson, 80

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury for Judith Kiepe “Judy” Jackson.

A well-known philanthropist and community arts advocate, she died Nov. 14, 2023, at age 80 in Salisbury, from complications related to Covid-19.

Born Dec. 25, 1942, in Glen Ridge, N.J., she was regarded as a beacon of love, kindness and friendliness, touching the lives of many with her warm spirit and generous heart.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Duke University in 1963. She worked in the field of psychogeriatrics.

Beyond her professional life, she held a deep love for music. She had an excellent singing voice, which she first shared in her church choir at a young age. Throughout her life, she continued to sing whenever she could, most recently at the Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury.

She was also an exceptional seamstress, creating beautiful outfits for herself and others. She had a particular fondness for needlepoint, her home adorned with beautiful pillows and pictures she had crafted.

She and her husband, Peter Jackson, generously supported Salisbury University, student scholarships and the city of Salisbury itself.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Catherine Jackson and Sarah Jackson.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Wicomico Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, beginning at 1:30 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m.

There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall immediately following.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
