Selbyville business fire deemed accidental

SELBYVILLE — A fire that heavily damaged a business Tuesday was accidental, the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office determined.

According to spokesman Michael Chionchio, the blaze was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. and occurred in the 100 block of Dixon Street at Avalanche Industries.
Firefighters encountered an active fire inside the building’s attic space, Mr. Chionchio said.

Investigation determined that the blaze originated in the attic and was caused by faulty electrical wiring, Mr. Chionchio said.

There were no reported injuries and fire damage was estimated at $20,000, authorities said.
