Seaford’s Sen. Richardson seeking reelection

Posted

SEAFORD — Sen. Bryant Richardson, R-Seaford, filed for reelection Friday.

“I am blessed to be able to serve the wonderful constituents of the 21st Senate District,” he said in a prepared statement. “There is still a lot of work to be done and I look forward to hitting the campaign trail to earn another term.”

Sen. Richardson is in his second stint in the General Assembly. He has been a strong advocate of the anti-abortion movement and a vocal opponent of tax increases, and has pushed to improve public education.

“This year, I introduced Senate Bill 232, which would require students to learn about and prove their knowledge of civics in order to graduate high school,” he said. “A strong familiarity of our nation’s establishment and founding documents should be a priority in Delaware’s classrooms.”

Sen. Richardson has served the 21st District since 2014, when he defeated Democrat Robert Venables. He is the founder and former owner of Morning Star Publications, a newspaper company covering Seaford, Laurel and much of western Sussex County.

His district includes Delmar, Laurel, Seaford, Bethel, Blades, Gumboro and many of the unincorporated areas of western Sussex.
