Georgetown’s Sandhill Fields contracts with Delmarva Rush soccer

GEORGETOWN — Sandhill Fields and the Sussex Sports Center Foundation on Thursday announced a lease agreement with Delmarva Rush, southern Delaware’s largest soccer club.

A foundation press release stated that the partnership will ensure that local children can learn soccer at a first-class facility in a central location.

With more than 1,500 players, Delmarva Rush provides a comprehensive soccer education that not only focuses on skill development but also emphasizes the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship and character building.

Originally founded as Henlopen Soccer, Delmarva Rush was established in 1996. With its home at Sandhill Fields, the league will continue to offer a range of programs for players of all ages and skills, including recreational and competitive teams and specialized clinics and camps.

Sandhill Fields is a 90-acre complex at 20330 Sandhill Road. It features eight regulation Bermuda grass soccer fields that can convert to accommodate lacrosse; six regulation pickleball courts; and a 3.5-mile walking trail that is also home to a 3.1-mile regulation cross-country course.

Other amenities include a tot lot, picnic pavilions and restrooms. The facility is available for tournaments, club practices and community use.
