The Dover High boys’ lacrosse team dropped a nonconference game to St. Andrew’s on Friday night, 7-6.

Will Niebrzydowski scored four goals for the Senators, who fell to 0-3 on the season.

Baseball

Milford 5, Lake Forest 1: In a game played on Thursday night, Abraham Mow pitched six innings of two-hit ball, striking out five to earn the conference victory.

Tommy Jordan and Ethan Hurd each had a pair of hits for Milford. Tyler Collins had a hit and struck out four for Lake Forest.

Cape Henlopen 12, Middletown 4: David Erickson had a grand slam, a double and five RBI to lead the Vikings to a win on Thursday night.

Erickson also pitched five innings, allowing three hits to record to victory. Austin Elliott was 2-for-2 with a solo home run and three runs scored for Cape.

Softball

Lake Forest 17, Milford 3: Brooke Glanden and Kerrigan Simpson each homered as the Spartans downed Milford in a game contested on Thursday evening.

College Baseball

James Madison 7, Delaware 3: James Madison used a seventh inning rally to break open a one-run game as the Dukes went on to defeat Delaware Friday afternoon at Bob Hannah Stadium in the opening game of the teams’ CAA baseball series.

James Madison (12-14, 3-1 CAA) struck first during the top of the second when Mike Sciorra dropped down a squeeze bunt to drive home Kyle Weston.

The Dukes then tacked on a pair of runs during the top of the sixth as Zach Tondi laced an RBI double to rightcenter before coming around to score on a single up the middle by Sciorra.

Delaware (16-10, 0-4 CAA) got on the board during the bottom half, as Nick Tierno led off the frame with a walk before Jordan Glover blasted a pitch deep over the leftfield fence.

However, JMU answered right back in the top of the seventh with a four-run rally to put the game away. Ky Parrott led off with a triple, and he immediately crossed the plate when Kyle McPherson followed with an RBI single. One out later Weston doubled home McPherson, while later in the frame Adam Sisk launched a two-run shot to left to make it a 7-2 game.

The Blue Hens got a run back in the bottom of the ninth as Nick Patten led off with a double and scored on a two-out single up the middle by Brian Mayer, but Delaware would get no closer.

Dukes starter Aaron Hoover improved to 3-2 after allowing two runs on five hits in five-plus innings of work, while Michael Evans was charged with one run on two hits in the final four frames to pick up his second save of the campaign.

UD starter Ron Marinaccio fell to 5-1 after surrendering seven runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings, before Nick Spadafino (Dover High) fired 2.1 scoreless frames of relief.

Mayer and Kyle Baker each finished 2 for 4 at the plate for Delaware, while three other Blue Hens added a hit apiece.

College softball

Wesley earns sweep: The Wolverines started their weekend on the right foot earning a pair of wins over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Southern Virginia. The Wolverines took down the Knights 6-2 in game one and then earned a 9-3 win in game two.

Lindsay Siok earned the win in the circle in game one, tossing five innings and allowing a pair of earned runs on three hits while striking out three. Destiny Davis tossed a pair of scoreless innings to close out the game. Sydney Botsch earned the complete-game win in game two, allowing three runs while scattering eight hits and striking out nine.

Devin Mackay led the Wolverines with four RBI in the two games combined, going 3-for-8 from the plate with three runs scored as well. Samantha Burns went 4-for-9 with three runs scored and a stolen base in the leadoff spot.

Women’s lacrosse

Robert Morris 18, Delaware State 4: Delaware State closed out its fourth women’s lacrosse season with a loss to Robert Morris. The Colonials scored the first 12 goals en route to their fourth win in nine games. The Hornets ended their season with a 2-9 record.

Katie Breeze, Jessica Karwacki and Corey Karwacki scored three goals each to lead Robert Morris.

Kayla Yurkanin, Lauren Perry, Iman Hassan and Tai Galmore tallied one goal each to account for DSU’s scoring.
