Ribbon cut on new outdoor pavilion for Smyrna's Belmont Hall

Posted

SMYRNA — Delaware Historic and Cultural Affairs professional staff and the Friends of Belmont Hall volunteers and supporters gathered beneath their freshly finished outdoor event pavilion for a ribbon cutting June 14.

The pavilion was designed by project architects Bryan L. Hutchison and Colby Klecan of Becker Morgan Group, Dover. Hampered by inclement winter weather, the pavilion was completed by Greg Thompson, Conventional Builders.

Attending the ribbon cutting were elected officials from the town of Smyrna and state Sen. Kyra Hoffner.

The pavilion features poured concrete foundations and sidewalks. Framing views of the lush park-like setting, support columns planted with old growth trees, shrubs and seasonal flowers echo the architectural integrity of the Georgian bones of the parent home, completed by Thomas Collins in 1773. The public is invited to rent the facilities through the group’s website, belmonthall.org.
