Question of the Day: What do your taxes pay for?

Posted

Here is the Question of the Day:

Kent County Levy Court’s operating budget this year includes a 20% increase in property taxes, or six cents per hundred dollars of assessed property, the first increase since 2009. County taxes pay for core functions such as EMS, 911 Dispatch, Parks and Recreation, and Planning. The county received no public comments on the tax increase proposal. New library tax districts were also created for Duck Creek, Lake Forest, Caesar Rodney and Capital, with rates set for those tax districts and the Milford library tax district at a rate of 3.3 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value. What would you prefer to have added or removed from the things paid for with your county taxes?
