Question of the Day: Affirmative action: Yay or nay?

Here is the Question of the Day:

Cornell Law School writes, “Affirmative action is defined as a set of procedures designed to eliminate unlawful discrimination among applicants, remedy the results of such prior discrimination, and prevent such discrimination in the future.” Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in Thursday’s decision on the matter, “Many universities have for too long wrongly concluded that the touchstone of an individual’s identity is not challenges bested, skills built, or lessons learned, but the color of their skin." Delaware State University president Dr. Tony Allen noted, “(Justice) Roberts wrote that we ought to begin proceeding as though we are colorblind. Except, in America, we’re not.” What are your thoughts on the court’s decision?
