Permits required for drone use in Kent County parks

Posted

DOVER — Drones and remote control airplanes are prohibited in Kent County parks unless operating under a special-use permit obtained through the Parks & Recreation Division.

With a permit, a remote control operator may fly his or her craft in three of Kent County’s parks: Big Oak, Browns Branch or Kesselring.

All operators must have a current membership card from the Academy of Model Aeronautics or a Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 license.

Other rules apply, and there is no cost for obtaining the permit.

For an application, visit here. For more information, contact the division at 744-2495.
