PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired defenseman Spencer Stastney from Edmonton in exchange for forward Filip Hallander.
The deal, announced Wednesday, gives the Penguins depth on the blue line.
Hallander, 26, was off to a promising start this season for Pittsburgh, scoring a goal to go with two assists in two games for the Penguins. The former second-round draft pick has struggled to gain a foothold in the NHL during his time in Pittsburgh, appearing in just 18 games across four seasons.
The Penguins will be Stastney's third team in less than a year. He was traded from Nashville to Edmonton last December, then signed a one-year deal with the Oilers in July.
The 26-year-old Stastney has four goals and 15 assists in 117 career games for Edmonton and Nashville.
