Pedestrian dies in Felton crash late Wednesday

FELTON — A 55-year-old Harrington woman was killed in a crash while walking on U.S. 13 late Wednesday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

The pedestrian was dressed in dark clothing and not carrying a light, Cpl. Pepper said. She was struck near the center of the left lane of the southbound side of the highway, just north of Peach Basket Road. The incident occurred at approximately 11:12 p.m.

Identification of the woman was pending notification of next of kin.

The vehicle that struck the woman continued on for a short distance before stopping, police said. Its 17-year-old driver was uninjured.

U.S. 13 was closed for approximately three hours for the crash investigation.
