One person dead in single-vehicle crash in Middletown

A 66-year-old Pennnsylvania man died in a single-vehicle crash Monday night, Delaware State Police.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 9:05 p.m. when a vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and exited Boyds Corner Road. The vehicle struck a utility pole guy wire and then the corner of an unoccupied residence. The vehicle came to rest after striking the residence’s large raised concrete porch.

The driver, from Lebanon, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified, police said.

Boyds Corner Road was closed for approximately one hour and the shoulder was closed for approximately three hours while the investigators examined the scene and cleared the roadway.
