CAMBRIDGE — Oct. 12 marked the third consecutive year that North Dorchester Middle School was asked to provide entertainment for The Salvation Army of the Mid-Shore. This year was special for several reasons, however.

The 25 students who performed under the direction of fifth-year teacher Kevin A. Lewis comprise the school’s new chamber ensemble known as “Singers” and will go on next month to audition for the Maryland All-State Junior Chorus. This was announced after the students finished performing several selections for the gathered crowd.

Before the ensemble could leave, they were presented with a certificate of appreciation from The Salvation Army and Mr. Lewis received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congressman Andy Harris of the U.S. House of Representatives First District (not in attendance).

The group’s praises were sung by Dr. Henry Wagner, recently retired from Dorchester County Public Schools as Superintendent.
