The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control is looking for students working to make a difference for the environment.
Teachers, classmates, club or group leaders, family members and others are encouraged to nominate such children for the 2023 Young Environmentalist of the Year Awards.
Nominations must be based on their actions between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023.
Celebrating its 30th year, this program honors students in Delaware whose activities have involved environmental stewardship, initiating an innovative project, increasing public awareness or demonstrating environmental ethics.
Nominations will be accepted through June 30.
A winner will be chosen from elementary (grades 1-4), middle school (grades 5-8) and high school (grades 9-12) categories.
Each category winner will receive a certificate, a gift card and a prize pack. An awards ceremony is scheduled for Governor’s Day, July 27, at the Delaware State Fair, with details to follow.
Information and the nomination form can be found at de.gov/youngenvironmentalists or by emailing joanna.wilson@delaware.gov.
