DOVER — For a second consecutive day, several Delaware public schools were disrupted by bomb threats that proved to be unfounded.

On Wednesday law enforcement checked on schools in Dover, Millsboro and Middletown after students and staff were evacuated and eventually deemed the buildings safe after searches.

Dover Police Department investigated a reported bomb threat at William Henry Middle School on Carver Road and spent approximately 90 minutes checking on the premises. School then resumed the daily schedule, authorities said.

East Millsboro Elementary School on Iron Branch Road received a threatening robotic style or computer generated voice phone call at approximately 10 a.m., police said, along with Everett Meredith Middle School on South Broad Street in Middletown.

According to Delaware State Police, students at both schools were evacuated to buses and taken to predetermined locations as administrative searches were conducted. Spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said “nothing out of the ordinary or suspicious” was located.

Once the schools were determined to be safe, students and staff returned to resume their daily activities, police said.

Also evacuated in Middletown was the Appoquinimink Preschool next to Meredith Middle, and afternoon classes were cancelled.

The day before, Silver Lake Elementary School in Middletown was evacuated by a bomb threat that never materialized.
