MILTON — The Milton Garden Club will host its 23rd annual Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 15.

The hurricane/nor’easter date is Sept. 21.

Tickets in advance are $20 and available online and at local businesses Pepper’s Greenhouse, The Mercantile at Milton, Lewes Gourmet/Puzzles, Bella Terra Landscapes & Garden Center and Titanic Pizzeria. Tickets on the day of the event are $25, cash or check only, at the Milton Historical Society.

Funds raised will support the Milton Garden Club's work in planting and maintaining downtown Milton's gardens and planters, and also the scholarships awarded to local students pursuing higher education in fields such as agriculture, botany, horticulture, and landscape architecture.

Eight local homeowners/gardeners will open their gates and welcome garden tour ticket holders in support of the Milton Garden Club of Delaware. Some homeowners are new to Milton, some are longtime residents. Some homes on the tour date back more than 100 years, some were created just a few years ago.

One garden was converted from an asphalt parking lot, one began as a yard covered in clam shell fragments. One is a certified wildlife habitat; another is a certified butterfly garden.

Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions in the gardens. Artists and vendors will be selling their wares and creations in different gardens. Treats, plants and gently used garden goods will be available for sale at the ticket booth.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool, if possible. For more information, visit themiltongardenclub.org.
