Posted

MILLSBORO — A 34-year-old Millsboro man was arrested in connection with a robbery at Wawa early Saturday, Delaware State Police said.

According to authorities, at approximately 3:05 a.m., troopers responded to the store at 24930 John J. Williams Highway for a robbery that had just occurred.

Troopers spoke with the cashier and learned that the suspect, later identified as Andrew Maccord, went into the store wearing a sweatshirt, mask and gloves to buy a cigar, police said.

Police said that when the cashier opened the register drawer, the suspect tried to steal the entire cash drawer. The suspect pried the cashier’s hands off the drawer and stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene, police said.

Mr. Maccord was taken into custody without incident at his apartment Tuesday, authorities said.

Mr. Maccord was charged with second-degree robbery and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $4,000 unsecured bond.
