Milford School District hoists final beam for middle school

Posted

MILFORD – The Milford School District raised the final beam of the Milford Middle School on Sept. 16 to celebrate the milestone in the restoration of the school.

Students from Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, Lulu Ross Elementary School and Mispillion Elementary School participated in the celebration because they will be the first students to walk the halls of the new school.

The students included Emariyana Chandler and Victor Cerano from Lulu Ross Elementary School, Ci’Nayah Boyd and George Thompson from Mispillion Elementary School and Virginia Wallace and Princeton Jackson from Benjamin Banneker Elementary School.

Members of the Milford School District Board of Education, administration and staff members all were in attendance of the event, including the Milford Middle School principal, Dr. Susan Frampton.

Key project partners include RYJ, BSA+A and RC Fabricators.

“We are proud to announce that the Milford Middle School restoration is on time and under budget, with no tax increases,” said Dr. Sara Hale, chief operating officer for the school district. “This project represents our commitment to responsible financial management and our community’s shared vision for the future of Milford education.”

The new school will include a balance of preservation with progress. The structure from 1929 has been salvaged with non-historical and updated facilities.

The district hopes the new building will meet the needs of a twenty-first century learning environment as well as ease the capacity issues throughout the district.

The Milford Middle School will open on doors for students in the fall of 2025. The district will be transitioning to new grade configurations and feeder programs to combat the population growth in the Milford area.
