DOVER — A 29-year-old Milford man was arrested and charged with attempted murder following an incident at Dover Behavioral Health early Sunday, authorities said.
According to Dover Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, Derek Chilicas assaulted a 64-year-old Georgetown male, causing him to sustain serious injuries to his upper body.
Mr. Chilicas was taken into custody without incident.
The injured man was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for further treatment where he remains in critical condition.
Mr. Chilicas was charged with first-degree attempted murder, strangulation, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $200,000 cash bail.
