Middletown area voters hit the polls

Posted

During regular meetups at the Appoquinimink Community Library in Middletown, friends Colleen Alicea and Kimberly Nobayashi occasionally discuss politics.

“We can talk politics to each other because we’re level-headed and open-minded, and we always have a positive outlook on things,” Ms. Nobayashi said.

Regarding leadership, “I want a person who seems to care about people and the environment, someone who is not for themselves. They’re pretty hard to find,” added Ms. Alicea, who was heading to Middletown High School to cast her ballot Tuesday.

Ms. Nobayashi — who planned to vote at Townsend Elementary School — went on to say that she would support a leader “who represents the people as a whole.”

“I need someone who is supporting women, most importantly. I would like them to reverse Roe v. Wade because there are different situations that you can’t group all together. (I would like them to) help people on Social Security, like my mother is.”

After voting at the library, Dwight White noted why doing so is significant.

“It’s important for me to vote just to make sure I’m part of the change that needs to be made in Middletown and the world,” he said.

“I just want to make sure we have leadership in place that’s going to be for the best interests of Middletown and for the country and for the people, and I want to be a part of that process.”
