MIDDLETOWN — A 20-year-old Middletown male died in a Sunday motorcycle crash, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m., when a Chevrolet Malibu turned left on a green light from a shopping center onto Summit Bridge Road and into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed into the passenger’s side of the vehicle, sliding under it and becoming trapped before the car could come to a complete stop.

Police said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 27-year-old female operator of the Malibu was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash.

Summit Bridge Road, between Bethel Church and Boyds Corner roads, was closed for approximately 3.5 hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.

This incident remains under investigation by the Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with information can call Sgt. D. Alexander at 365-8484. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or by visiting here.
